Aid under Indira Awas Yojana Indira Aawas Yojana is the flagship rural housing scheme which is being implemented by the Government of India with an aim of providing shelter to the poor below poverty line. The Government of India has decided that allocation of funds under IAY (Indira Awas Yojna) will be on the basis of poverty ratio and housing shortage. Grant of Rs. 20,000/- per unit is provided in the plain areas and Rs. 22,000/- in hilly/difficult areas for the construction of a house. For conversion of a kutcha house into in pakka house, Rs. 10,000/- is provided. sanitary latrines and chulahs are integral part of the house. In construction/upgradation of the house, cost effective and environment friendly technologies, materials and designs are encouraged. The household is alloted in the name of a female member of beneficiary household. The person concerned should contact the Village Panchayat or Village Level Worker or the Block Development Officer or District Rural Development Agency.

Registration for job cards under NREGS NREGS or National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme is one of the most ambitious schemes of the Indian government; not only because it guarantees 100 days employment for poor at a minimum fixed rate, but more importantly because it has introduced the concept of “right to employment” for them. The act has well defined roles and responsibilities for the central & state government, district & block administration and the panchayats. It guarantees to provide employment within 15 days of the date of submitting the application. In the event of failure to provide employment, the person will be given a daily unemployment allowance as per the Act. The act provides basic facilities at the work site viz. crèche, safe drinking water, Medical aid, etc. It guarantees to provide employment within 15 days of the date of submitting the application. In the event of failure to provide employment, the person will be given a daily unemployment allowance as per the Act. In the case if applicant fails to report to work within 15 days of the receipt of work allotment letter, he/she shall not be eligible to claim the unemployment allowance for a period of three months as per Section 9 of the NREF Act. However he/she shall be eligible to seek employment at any time. The onus of guaranteeing 100 days of employment rests with the government and the applicant can demand for unemployment allowance in case he/she does not get work.
